I think I've written about love a few times already, but... love is just awesome so here's another post. Our lives, especially as girls, I think, revolve around love. Growing up I watched classic Disney princess movies... I admit that I still frequently watch them and own most of them on DVD. I've seen Tangled twice at the movie theater and am almost tempted to take my little brother to see it again tomorrow. I played with Barbies growing up and even had a make believe husband named Johnny Crown who looked kind of like Elvis and owned a greeting card business. Most girls I know get easily depressed for two reasons: one is about their looks and the other is about boys. All the best movies, in my opinion, have some sort of love story in it. Most songs are about love. Love, Love, Love!!!
One of my favorite movies right now is Marley and Me. I watched it once last week and I watched it again today. The dog is cute and all, but what I really just love about that movie is the example of a family it gives. The couple goes through hard things, but they stay together and they stay in love and it's just so great!
I used to think that wanting love so badly was wrong, but that's how God created us. We are made in His image, ok? And in Genesis, before the fall, Eve was created because it was not good for Adam to be alone. Before sin was in the world, it was perfect for Adam and Eve to be in love and married and all that. I don't really know how to explain that very well, but... try to understand, ok? Anyway, another thing that just amazes me. God calls us His bride. The church is the bride and Jesus is the groom.
God created us in His image. And He gave us that need for love and that need for each other. Marriage is a demonstration of the relationship between us and God. And not only is it okay to love someone and everything, but it is right and good. It glorifies God.
Thiago came to Memphis last week... honestly, it was the best week of my life. Sometimes I think that my relationship with Thiago is a great example of our relationship with Christ. Like, it's a long distance relationship and it requires a lot of work and it's really, really, really, really hard to be separate... but when we're together, it's all worth it. Because there's nothing in this world that is like being next to Thiago and holding his or resting my head on his shoulder. While we are living on the Earth, we are apart from God. We can't see Him or touch Him or literally hear His voice... but one day we will be together and it's going to be perfect. Words cannot even describe what it's going to be like. I think God gave us romance to give us a glimpse of what God's love with us is like. And I think this is true for fatherly love and friendships too, but especially for romantic love. It's just unique and awesome and a little taste of the LOVE God has for us.
