This week I experienced something that I've never experienced before. I've had songs that I just listen to over and over again. I've looked at the same picture over and over and over again. I have even watched the same movie everyday. But I've never had a Bible story that I've read just over and over and over again and cannot get enough of. This week, when I needed it the most, God gave me two.
1. Matthew 8:10.
"When Jesus heard this, He was amazed..."
The story behind this verse is just so awesome. This official runs up to Jesus and tells him that his servant is really sick. So Jesus offers to go all the way to the official's house and heal the servant, but the official says that he's not worthy of Jesus even going to his house, but if Jesus just says it, just utters the word, his servant will be healed. And this faith amazes Jesus. Jesus tells the official to go on because Jesus healed his servant. I can't help but constantly think how awesome it must be to amaze Jesus. To have such pure faith that Jesus is amazed by me.
2. Psalm 13:1-2, 5-6
How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the LORD’s praise,
for he has been good to me.
Somebody taped this to my door this week and I don't even know who it was. But it is perfect. Very perfect.
And, number 359:
